RE: Recommended fax server used with Lotus Notes ~Fred Chuveluplopakoi 3.Jun.03 03:20 PM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0.1Windows NT
1. You map DID numbers to registered Notes users. The fax messages come in as TIF attachments to an e-mail.
2. To send a scanned image you can either compose an e-mail and attach it, or use the special form that can be copied into the mail database.
3. We purchased an eight port version and I believe the total cost was about $13,000, including over $5,000 for hardware. The software itself was in the $7,000 range, which was the base version and seven extra ports. The base model comes with one port, then you buy extra ones. There are no per-user charges, but for 30 users I would use at least two ports, one for inbound and one for outbound so you can send and receive simultaneously. You can scale this based on your actual fax usage. As for the server, I bought an older Dell server off eBay for $250 and used an existing Domino license and it works like a champ. I believe Domino licenses start at about $800, but you can check with IBM Lotus or your reseller about that.
I hope that helps, if you have any other questions let me know.
